Blissfully Unique~ sort of :)

I LOVE getting those goofy address labels in the mail...
You know, the ones from the Disabled Veterans, or the American Heart Association...or St. Jude's.

If my name is spelled correctly- and the last name is tough because it's Norwegian (and IT IS a weird last name) - I almost always send money: specially to the Disabled Veterans.

I have a nice computer, with a fairly good printer...and I have a box of plain labels- I can make all the cute address stickers I want- but I never do!

Nor do I have to-

To date I have about 3,000 labels with my name and address on them! When we moved 5 years ago I hated to throw away all that stuff with the old address on it.

Alternate uses for printed address labels...

Mail some to a Grandparent or a relative you keep in touch with- specially an elderly person.
It makes sending you a card or note that much easier.

Put one on the back of a photo you are sending to someone (particularly a photo of yourself!)- be sure to put the date on the back of the photo as well.

Use the labels on dishes and utensils for ANY and every pot-luck event you take a dish to...or if you are making dinner for a friend who is sick or with a new baby.
My dishes rarely end up with someone else.

If you are moving- or about to move and want to send your address to people who actaully write to you- take a stack of Rolodex cards, affix your address label, and then mail the rolodex cards out to your friends.

Put one inside the book you loan out to a friend.

Stick one on the bottom of ANYTHING on your desk at work that tends to wander off...like staplers, and tape and scissors.

Cd's, movies, items that you want returned....

OK, you get the idea.

* Song playing in my head is "Rebel Yell" (the Billy Idol kick will be over soon, I hope...but jeesh...what a song! I'm going to post the "Song in my Noggin" (SiMN) from now on- if I can remember to do it! :)

Last night a little dancer came dancin' to my door
Last night a little angel Came pumpin cross my floor
She said "Come on baby I got a licence for love
And if it expires pray help from above"

Because...

In the midnight hour she cried- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell she cried- "more, more, more"
In the midniight hour babe- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell- "more, more, more"More, more, more.

"Sigh"
The "Angel" in this song- I think- is my alter ego...the chick I have to sit on to keep her in line...
She's not much of an Angel really :) But, I dare say - she is ALOT of fun! :P

I might have to put an address label on her if she gets out...to be sure she's returned to the right place! LOL!

Actually, I haven't used mailing labels lately. I used to, when I did tons of mass mailings (life of an organizer, I guess). But since I'm kinda out of that game, I have little use for them.

I used to print themout on a daisy wheel. Are you old enough to remember daisy wheel printing?

As for your Angel, I would suggest getting the address tattooed on her. After all, she can always peel off a label.

With labels, by all means, run amuck
But honour civility and pluck.
Submit to the mercy
Of the silver-tongued Percy
And you're sure of coming unstuck.

X~ I do remember the daisy wheel- barely :) I am woefully unorganized- mostly.
A tat for an Angel? Please- don't give her any ideas! LOL! If we made it through 17 without one- maybe we can make it through 40! :)

JCN...I have not been over to your blog yet- do you think my comparison between you and King David over the top? Perhaps a little- but I suppose the point was still well made? :)
"Submit to the mercy...of silver tongued Percy"
Submit? Not easily! ;)

Oh my God! And I thought people would laugh hysterically at me if I shared my love of those silly labels. I too send the vets money, but I love all the cute labels they send me. The Easter Seal folks always send shitty labels :)

Great post as always. I'm glad I'm not the only one and among very normal company. Nice list too of what to do with the extra ones.

It's a nice day for a white wedding.

Dear Mayden! Oh that I had David's body and David's prowess. If that were the case I could more ably take you through the realms of Percy's poetry.

But you honour me greatly! Thank you.

I do note with chagrin that it is Percy who gets the roses and kisses.

Lux- I have no doubt that we would be DANGEROUS together! LOL :) What town could survive us if our alter egos took the lead? NYC perhaps? Of course we'd have to locate X and the dear soul would be at our mercy- lol...however~ I think he would survive- with a smile! :)

Malinda :) Birds of a feather :) I wrote that "blog" a few years ago in a notebook- before I knew what a blog was...and there are dozens and dozens of things like that written in notebooks all over the house! Thank you for stopping by :)
X~ I always thought that song was about nuclear war. I think Mr. Idol turns 50 this year...sigh :0

JCN- the kiss was on the rose- for him to wear- and dispose of.
Yours- I would plant on the cheek,
for you to keep.
I dare not leave another note at your blog for a while...there is a predjudice against blondes~ believe it or not. "Sigh" but it is a burden I bear with grace, please check back- I think I will have something for you soon.

Smooch on your nose K9! :)
I tried to get some friends to play the game with me on a trip one time- on a plane...they didn't enjoy it as much as I did! :)

So then: you love popcorn too much.

(Being a trained officer I am astute at "connecting the dots" - in this case, your post with your comments to another blog.)

Percy-
Forgive me if my cool-whip question was too forward...those items are not really snack food- more like condiments I suppose!
LOL!
(Yikes...I think that alter ego chick is slipping out!)

Do not give in to prejudice dear Mayden, for that is its purpose. And my loss.

And for the kiss! I blush but thank you dearly.
