Tequila and Salt

My great Uncle sent this to me...it's one of those sappy emails, but it's sweet and it has a new twist at the end-- which I like! :)

This should probably be taped to your bathroom mirror where one could read it every day. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.

2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.

5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

(me-last week...you can see my braces! LOL! Kate, this is especially for you!)

6. You mean the world to someone.

7. You are special and unique.

8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.

10. When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look.

11. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

And always remember....when life hands you Lemons,
ask for tequila and salt and call me over!!!

Tequila and lemons? I'm thinking, maybe a Corona, maybe. Doesn't matter. I wouldn't mind a tequilla (sans lemon).

It's early Wednesday morning. I'm about to go to bed, and I'm definitely thnking about you.

Tequila is indeed a spiritual thing. Many times in my youth, tequila put me in close contact with the porcelain god.

Howl!!! iamnot! i have had the same experience on pulque....which is undistilled tequila white and milky. yes, i had the lovely experience of being out of my mind and then puking all the way back to my hotel through the rusted out floor of my third class bus loaded up with chickens and goats. so very classy! this was in oaxaca and is a fond memory in spite of the three day recovery that followed.

tequila is my daily driver. its my only drink and i take it neat: not chilled, no salt and no limes.

the blue agave is a mystikal plant its a good buzz and an aphrodisiac as well. i like cazadorres the best, then patron reposado (the orange label). ive tried 'em all.

ever seen the movie frida where she out drinks (tequila, natch) painters diego rivera and siqueiros to win a tango with ashley judd? grrr her her herrrrrr!
smokin'!

mayden, nice post. as i am away from the ones i love i pray these points to be true. i know it is on my end.

/grrrrrrr

(It is so frustrating when "bloggy" eats my reply! lol!)

X~ Corona with a lemon/lime is my favorite beer. I am not actually crazy about Tequilla. I love a good vodka Martini-strained over ice-with vermouth (sp?)...with 3 olives :)
However, have you seen a movie (have no idea which one) where the guys at the bar, in quick succession, bite a lemon wedge, lick salt off of the back of their hand and take a shot of the hard stuff? LOL...I haven't tried it, but one day I might! :)
(and I might end up UNDER the bar...so perhaps I should do this at home? LOL)

Grunt- glad to see you here. I thought this email (though my Uncle sends me a gazillion of them!) was kind of profound. Thinking of people I would give my life for, and of someone loving me that I don't even know, and of all the friends I think of just before I go to sleep. Very personal stuff, but good things to think about. :)

Lee- You have attained a certain level of Spirituality through all the learning, sharing, and teaching you have done in this life...Tequilla or not! :)

iamnot- have not had that happen to me in many, many years (thank goodness!)...definitely one of those times where the farther you get from it, the funnier it is!

K9- Have you ever eaten the worm at the bottom of the bottle???
(I ate a worm once, while in China...it was fried and tasted like a p-nut. I was dared to do it, so I actually ate 2! lol)

I haven't seen the movie, but I am always looking to rent a good one...X has given me some homework, but I think I could squeeze another film in :)

K9- Whoops! Look what I found!

Whats the story with the worm?

One of the most common misconceptions is that tequila has a worm in the bottle. The worm is only found in Mezcal bottles, not tequila.

Traditionally, every bottle of true Mezcal contains an agave worm, a custom believed to be initiated by Aztec priests to instill in the drink a life spirit of its own. The worm is highly prized as an aphrodisiac by many of today's mezcal drinkers.

Since the agave worm inhabits only the species of cactus that Mezcal is made from, the agave worm signifies genuine Mezcal, made the traditional way.

The worm isn't there for looks. It is meant to be eaten. Because it is believed by many that within the worm lies the key. Some say it unlocks the door to a world of wondrous experiences. Others say it sets free a spirit of celebration. Still others say that eating the worm locks in the enchantment and excitement of Mezcal.

The worm then holds different keys for different people. And there's only one way to see what yours will open. Try it.

When life hands me lemons? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,hmmmmmm.....
yeah, i'd drink a tequila, not Jose Cuervo though..ech.....straight, possibly very chilled..and no lemon. I might have that with a tecate.

but most of the time, I eat a big bowl of icecream, go huddle in a corner until i figure out what to do next.

I am not a tequila drinker... but I like the thought process!! lol

schaumi...ice cream, in the corner? Probably the safest, and wisest move you could make! :)
I have never been to a bar alone. LOL! I was in FL last month and the hotel had a great bar with a piano and a band...and I just couldn't go in there! :) I'm a chicken! LOL
Yep...I was better off in my room with the laptop and my fresh strawberries, and Ice cream if I had- had any! :)

Kate, if you had seen the movie I described earlier...oh, it was so funny! :) The way those guys would scrunch up their faces when they bit into the lemon, and would shudder after the Tequila! :) LOL!
One day, I will try it :)

I became a lemon/salt/tequilla expert in college. Takes a little coordination at first. Newbies tend to doo everything out of order, or turning their hand over and spilling the salt on the floor.
