I won!!!

The Southeastern Writers Conference was the first conference of its kind that I have ever attended. Naturally there was a contest for all groups of writing...Fiction, Non-fiction, Childrens literature, Inspirational, etc...

On a whim, hoping that I had SOMETHING worth submitting, I sent in a childrens book I have written, "The Little Cloud", and an Inspirational piece, "The Potter".

The Awards banquet was last night and we all dressed up. Nice clothes, a good meal, wonderful friends all around--people I had scarcely known a week but felt like I had known my whole life...all of us were gathered in a banquet hall, and having a lovely time.

After a good meal of roasted chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, a fresh salad, and an unbelievable turtle cheesecake, it was time for the awards! :)

I won 3rd place in the Inspirational category! :)

Pretty good for a 1st timer! :)

It was an honor I did not expect, but one I had hoped for. What a thrill it was to be announced by Ms. Catherine Guess!

It has been a wonderful week- being at the Southeastern Writers COnference at St. Simons Island, staying at Epworth by the Sea. Almost magical!

I really hope that some of you, who might be so inclined, will look into this Conference next year! I'd be willing to split the room with you! :)

It was one of the most rewarding weeks I have ever had.
I am a writer...I am a writer....
I AM A WRITER!!!!

:)

This is a tiny Palm tree...a Segao Palm? It grows very slowly and stays low to the ground...just like me :)

I am so proud of you! How exciting to go to a huge conference and be a winner :)

That should inspire you to write much more. I'm giggling, I know from your story how much this meant to you and it's so fun to see someone happy to reap rewards for hard work. Keep it up! :)

That's great congrats!

And we always knew you were a writer and a good one just by reading your blog.

Good for you! Congratulations!

You're a writer? Gee, Cora, I could have told you that.

Actually, third place is pretty good for a veteran, let alone a first timer. Is there any chance of publication? I'd love to buy your book for my nephews.

I would say congratulations, but I don't want to come off as sounding surprised that someone other than me (or the rest of us for that matter) likes your writing.

Nevertheless, congratulations. We're all proud of you.

So will you continue to post to us lesser lights or in future will we have to read you in the North Carolina Literary Review?

I am being of a mind to be echoing the sentiments of the voluable Lady Luxlucisvita but I am royally bound to be not leaping about is such a manner as it is unbecoming of a Princess. Please be accepting my congratulations.

I don't know how it's possible to love so many that I've never laid eyes on...but my little heart could just burst over you! Thank you for your kind words.

The beginning of the week was rough, but things went smoothly- as you can see :) I wrote in my journal that this week was "...the most self-rewarding thing I have ever done for myself". And it was :)

Malinda- consider me inspired! I have some great ideas- and great motivation to press forward.

Lee- Thank you :)

Anteros- Thank you as well. I need to get over to VOA. I tried to leave you a note, but it got too sappy and I deleted it! LOL :)
You should look into a writers group in your area- I think you'd enjoy it and the people will benefit from what you have to say.

SJ- Thank you :) I need to catch up on your journey. I love the way you describe things, and your insights from such a different place than where I am.

Schaumi- Thank you :) How are things with you? I read about the "hole in the wall"--yikes. I know it's busy with the sale of the house. You are in my thoughts.

X~ Honestly- I could/ would give you a smooch! :) Forget a cyber hug! :)
I promise to let you know how the 1st book goes. I have some editing to do- just a little, and then a publisher to find. Funny how all of this seemed insurmountable when I left, and now it's just a matter of time and details. (and Query letters!)

JCN- LOL! I will ever be a blogger- but if you see my name on anything- please read it :) I PROMISE to do the same for you :)

Lux~ The only way my week could have been better- seriously, is if you could have joined me. Thank you for the joy you spread...and for your friendship, and for being so happy for me. I hope you are feeling better. I promise to visit your blog soon.

Princess- it is an honor to be greeted to kindly by you :) Thank you- sincerely :)

Doc-T- soooo good to see you here! Thank you :)
I would have loved to have met you while I was in GA, but it turns out that St. Simons and your location are WAYYY far apart! LOL :) If I get within an hour or so of Atlanta, I will let you know, ok? Thanks again for your kind words :)

i am still tickled pink about you getting 3rd place. that darn hole is fixed. i managed to find colors and reproduce the textures. I don't think anybody can really tell that there had ever been a hole.

"I'm a writer."
Those words have power too. Keep giving yourself permission to use them.

Wow, congratulations!

I hope I can utter those words someday.

Congratulations! That is so cool. What a pretty place, too. I love the southeast.

I never win anything. But I am not jealous of your good fortune. Someday my ship might come in ...

... wait a minute ... something just popped up on my screen (I wonder what they call those things that pop up like that) ...

... great googly moogly! I just won a FREE Plasma TV! What are the odds of that happening?! I finally won something! Your luck is rubbing off.
