Thanksgivng 2006, Done and Dusted!

Thanksgiving, for me, is celebrated over 2 days~

Thursday is spent with hubby's family~

Mother-in-Law loves to decorate for Christmas...

I thought the De-capitating Snow Man" Bear was a bit odd, but the kids loved it :)

Hubby and me :) And.... ----------------------------------------->J wanted a new hair color!!!

Friday is spent with my family~
Counting all my siblings- their spouses and their kids- and add my parents- we are a group of about 21 people, and 18 were able to make it this year.

The Friday Feast with all my relations was supposed to be at my sister Robin's house.
However, at 11 pm on Thursday night- her 4 yr old became rather sick. I'll skip the details- but somehow, someway- I ended up with 4 overnight guests, and 18 people in my house for Thanksgiving dinner on Friday!!!

From 8 am Friday until 7pm that evening- I cooked, arranged, cleaned, (and only cried once), organized, and entertained :)
A wonderful time was had by all- I thought I'd share some of it with you~

A bunch in the kitchen ! And Aunt Nonna (me) gettin' some love from one of my nephews :) SMOOCH!!!

I had 3 tables set up- with just enough room for everyone :)

We all had a great time, the sick little one turned out to be OK- and I was happy to have my house back late Friday night!

Hubby and I even got to see the James Bond movie Saturday night...

Daniel Craig is BEAUTIFUL!!! LOL!

Ok- time to go back to real life~ Hope your holiday (if you had one) was as good as mine- and hopefully yours had less work involved! :)

A polar bear practicing its method of slaughter on a snowman. Ahhhh, that must mean that Christmas is just around the corner.

I didn't spot that particular display at my local Hallmark Shoppe. But then, they're just a wee bit more politically correct outside of the South.

Yeah...ain't it great? Is the bear jealous or what?

I kind'a miss sittin' at the kid's table, but since I ain't always so good at not saying things, they won't let me sit there no more.

You know....
like, when you grow up, vote libertarian.....
that sort of stuff.

Whew, I am so glad we went to someone elses house. I hate a lot of folks in my house, and I would have cried more then once! Glad you had a good time. Now on to Christmas!

"why don't you c'mon, into mah kitchuun....."

grrrrl i love these slice of life ditties. so happy to see you happy. and i adore that little redheaded pixie.

your snowman pic reminds me of a Christmas display i saw where they took a reindeer form and strung it up from a tree branch upside down. and then had a cord of red lights spilling out from the inside. the redneck Christmas. yee haw.

glad you had a lovely time and no fudge yet. but i am hopefully that tomorrow brings sweetness to my world.

SJ- Thank you- it was fun and always good to see my family :)

Anon- Thank you :)

Lux- You would have fit right in- everyone would love you...you would be family in a matter of seconds. I think part of the blessing of being in a big family is that there is always room for one more- seriously!

Pug- PC-ness takes all the fun out of things though- doesn't it?
I'm pretty sure the Bear was NOT in a union :) Good for him!!!

Boneman- in my house, you can sit at which ever table you like :)

DD- You hate the crowd at your house, but not the family members- right? :)
When we bought this house my parents were moving out of theirs- and not under the best of conditions...
So- I knew this is where we would get-to-gether. I was happy to do it, and happy when it was over! :)

K9-
Love you pooch- but I hate the post office! I mailed the scarves a week ago Saturday, and the fudge went out first thing Tuesday morning- blah!
I'll overnight the next thing I bake for you- or send it UPS! :)
LOVED the Christmas deer! LOL! :)
My Uncle and cousins in Atlanta are avid hunters- this is exactlty what they'd put in the yard- if Aunt Hellen would let them! :)

Barry- I am long over due for a visit at your place- thanks for coming by :)

hope you're well. blah - its snowing here. that's not a good thing b/c no one knows how to drive here in that stuff and apparently the GVRD (city of vancouver) has never heard of snow plows!

Cora!
Happy Thanksgiving a little late! Oh how I loved this post. The words were lovely, but the photos even lovelier. The sense of warmth and love was so apparent. I admit to being partial: my favorite photo was the one of you and one of your nephews. :)

One holiday down, two to go for me. Yours looked wonderful.

I' trying to figure out how you became Aunt Nonna. No matter. The more I think about it, the more I think Aunt Nonna sounds like a good blog personality for when you get older (maybe in fifteen years).

Um, you know that old saying that when two people are married for a long time they start to look alike, right? Have you ever thought of growing a beard?

(ducking)

Mayden' s Voyage said...

X~ No...but I have thougth of re-marrying. (Daniel Craig?)

I wonder what the long term effects of marriage would do to you and I...
;)
No- seriously...if married people tend to look like each other later in life- then maybe I should think of marrying...hmmm,... who?

Julia Roberts!!!

Or Daniel Craig ;P
