Spirit of the Season~

The Spirit of the Christmas season is about LOVE and GIVING.

Loving each other, your family (if at all possible), and even loving

people you don't know.

(and I don't mean "swinging stranger parties" either! Pug!)

Hanukkah is commemorates the re dedication of the holy Temple in Jerusalem after the Jews' 165 B.C.E. victory over the Hellenist Syrians, and a miracle that happened in the holy Temple-a Menorah that should have burned out in 1 day, but lasted 8.

Jesus, being brought up in a Jewish house hold- would have celebrated Hanukkah.
I didn't know that until today...

However you celebrate- I wish you a joyful season of

Love, Giving, and Miracles.

Merry Christmas, and Happy Hanukkah!

Through the gift of a shiny new toy, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation provides happiness and hope to disadvantaged children who might otherwise be overlooked this holiday season. Sponsor a toy and give a child recognition, confidence and a positive memory for a lifetime.

Toys for Tots is a 59-year tradition of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity. In 2005, Toys for Tots delivered more than 18.5 million toys to over 7.4 million children. Unfortunately, with over 13 million children living in poverty, Toys for Tots needs your help more than ever to achieve our goal of delivering a toy to every child in need.

Your cash donations will help the Marines buy toys in bulk at deeply discounted prices. These cash donations allow Toys for Tots to better ensure children receive both age and gender appropriate toys. You can make a donation by clicking the Sponsor a Toy link at the top of the page. Donations are 100% tax deductible. Please also consider clicking the "Spread the Word" link after completing your donation and encourage your friends and family to support Toys for Tots.

Once you make your contribution, you will receive confirmation via e-mail. If you have any questions or problems processing your donation, please let us know - questions@TFTToyExpress.com .

Help Toys for Tots deliver a toy to every child this holiday season.

Love the picture of Danny Boy. I will look into that charity.

Why not "swinging stranger parties"?

165 BC!! that must pre-date even some Hindu festivals.

That's a great charity idea.

Actually, SJ, the Romans celebrated Saturnalia, which had fertility (read sexual) overtones. We only kiss under the mistletoe. Romans....

You forgot to mention Kwanza, Mayden. Not that I celebrate it. I make it a policy not to celebrate holidays created by CIA agents.

Ahem. I just want you to know that I give freely all year long. I'm always offering myself to (female) friends and strangers alike. Sometimes it hurts to be so generous (and popular). I so wish I didn't look just like the latest Bond guy.

K9, you're referring to Dr. Ronald Karenga, whose ties to the CIA go back to his leadership of the United Slaves Organization (USO).

EOR-
TFT usually has donation baskets/boxes in stores like Wal-Mart, or Target...you purchase a gift and drop it in the box- the Marines come and pick it up.
:)

SJ- I think the "Swinging Stranger parties" happen on New Years Eve ...but of course I've never been to one :)

X~ Thanks for mentioning that-
I left Kwanza out because it's a cultural celebration, not a religious one- though one could argue that Christmas is cultural too...but not for me.

However- for anyone who does celebrate Kwanza- Happy Kwanza!

Pug-
I KNOW you are a generous dog...and I can't imagine how hard it is to be as popular as you.
With that fat little belly, and scrunched up little nose, and the adorable Christmas sweater!
I wish I was as cute as you...

Wait, we kind of sound similar! :)
LOL :)

Libby- X is the genius...no doubt- I've met him and I KNOW first hand!

/t- if only we could get that pug in a tutu :)

K9- he is the best Santa I've seen this year :)

Schaumi- good to see you! :)
I love those Toys for Tots commercials...so sweet :)

Bone! I was over at your place the other day...but I didn't leave a comment. I promise to next time :)

I think that Mayden and K9 are the most festive looking so far this season. :) We do TFT at work! A great cause, indeed. xoxoxoxoxo
