Oh- the places I've been!

It's May 9th (Happy Birthday Tim!) and I've been gone since May 1st...
I arrived home later today.

I spent 3 days in Myrtle Beach with family, then drove to Orlando and spent time
with the lovely and wonderful "Kate" (Helene)- who is in the middle of a move and blogging is something she can't do at the moment.

We went to the beach, we worked out together, we lounged by the pool, we drank wine and martini's and walked to the lake in her area to see alligators up close and personal! We also went to the Raptor rehab center and got as close to an eagle (and a few other birds) than I'll ever be in the wild! We also had great fun with her kids ("Can I have your number???")- who made me homesick for my own~

I know this is a pitiful re-count of the last 8 days- but I promise to wax philosophical a little later this weekend :) Enjoy the photos for now!

I have to say that I am feeling somewhat envious. Getting that close to something so fearsome must have been absolutely thrilling.

Glad you had a good time amongst good people. I know how important it is to scratch that itch

The trouble with Bald Eagles is they have kind of a fishy taste to them. That and there isn't much meat once you get past all those feathers.

Thanks Lance~

Foamy- we had a blast- thank you. It's nice when the things you want to do, and the places you want to go are as good as you hoped it would all be!

Hey X- I even saw GATORS! Yeahhh :) I tried to climb over a fence to get a better look- but H told me to stop it before I got killed...lol- true story.

Helene- hugs friend. I miss you and wish I was there again. Can't wait to see you in June.

Greg- wayyyy better than Chipmunk bites! :)

Amy- the birds were fabulous...it was a thrilling experience to be that close to them. I will defintely go there again- and I'd like to take my kids to visit.

/t- Kate and I talked about you several times- hope your ears weren't burning. Thanks for being here :)

She-
I think there is a raptor center here in NC, and I bet there is one in your neck of the woods too...I should look into it. The fires started the night before I left- we could smell the smoke when we got up on Thursday morning!

Phos- THANK YOU... I am working hard at the gym :) I appreciate you noticed :)

NYD- If we could just time our trips to be in NYC when you are! Maybe one day? And yes- the birds were fearsome, the claws and beaks are worth being afraid of.

Aunty- I am sorry! I owe you a visit! Big doo-doo...uh-oh...ohhh-
I am really, really sorry! :(
For some reason I thought you were out of town- but I should have sent a note to be sure!
I won't make the same mistake ever again- I promise!
:)

Libby- thank you...it was wonderful.

Phos- you are bad! :)

Roxanne- whew...I believe you will have quite a story to tell! Hugs, and I'm glad you are safe.

Chesca- I hope once Helene gets settled in- I can come to Pa to see her- and the 3 of us can do something together! I feel sure we will :)

Reekinrunkle...lol- thank you. I suppose all the "end of the year" school stuff with the kids is almost as bad as falling off the planet :) Feels like it. Hope you have a great Memorial Day holiday :)

Phos- Chicken hawks? lol...that might be a great new nickname for my son- because the chicken disappears whenever he's around! :)

way up at the top, a date palm.

Lord knows, it's a good thing I didn't know that fact when I was in Florida, South Carolina, and I think parts of North Carolina.

Reason being I love dates.
I would'a eaten enough to be huge twice or three times over.

So, in this case, ignorance was good for a soul.
(but, I ain't giving any of them a chance in snow if'n I get back down in the south, again. I'll be coming with an appetite!)

The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to
take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting,
or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.
