About this time last year...

I met a fellow blogger...who, like me- seems to be off the radar for a while.
It was a special day and I wanted to share once again :)

Hugs Sean :) Whatever you are doing today- Happy Valentines Day.
It's was wonderful to meet you...and an honor to know you :)

********************************************

About a year ago I stumbled upon a blogger who was a soldier in Iraq-
He had only been blogging for a few weeks, just like me.

In 2004 and 2005 I led a group that wrote letters to people who were sick/in the hospital, and next we added soldiers (who were out of the country) to our list.
In particular we wrote to soldiers that were friends of, or were related to someone we knew personally.
I was thrilled when I came across Sean's blog because it enabled me to keep writing to someone in Iraq, and it gave me chance to make a new friend.

Sean was in my area for some training exercises over the last 2 weeks, and I got to spend 90 minutes with him this morning at a local mall.
We talked the whole time! (well, if you know me...getting me to be quiet is difficult! lol)

Anyway- I wasn't sure if our schedules would work out- but they did :) It was a lot of fun and I hope we can coordinate our schedules again before he returns to Iraq at the end of the year.

Thanks Sean...it was so nice to meet you! I hope next time I get to cook dinner for you! :)

***If any of you have a chance to meet a blog friend- be sure to do it. It really is special~ :)

I read the comments from your "blog" friends and your visits with them in person.. I read Daniel's comment to you... I have to ask - Does this drive your husband crazy? I have always felt that you should not meet with the opposite sex alone (either a third party or your man should attend). It is not an issue of trust. I just have felt that you should avoid all "appearance" of wrong. I have many male friends, but I would not want to go out with them alone for the way it would look in this day and age... also, I know that if my husband read Daniel's comment on my blog - "it" would totally hit the fan. Your husband must be ridiculously understanding or a eunich.

Iamnot- lol- I was on my best behavior- and I let him get a few words in edgewise :)

Daniel- oh Daniel...how I love thee! For your passion, for your controversy, for your knowing exactly what to say and when to say it. I will always be your Valentine :)

Reekinrunkle-
Would you have a problem with meeting a woman for lunch? How about a woman blogger/friend you've only known over the internet? How about a lesbian?

Why is there an appearance of "wrongness" when it comes to being friends with a man, or having lunch with one? I can only think of one reason...SEX. But of course in this day and age- all one on one get-to-gethers could be viewed as a potential date or prelude to a sexual encounter, could it not?

Sean, my blog friend, was someone that I had been writing to for over a year. All of his replies and emails to me were above reproach, and all read by my husband. Sean was invited to our home for dinner, and everyone in my family wanted to meet him. His schedule did not allow for such an encounter (he was from the midwest) and when he did have a few minutes to spare- I made plans to see him. I did not ask for permission to go and meet Sean, but I did make my plans known to my husband- who was invited as well. He chose to keep working and said, "Have a great time with your friend!". I did. I hope you can tell from the pic- taken in a very public place- that my hair still looked very nice. Sean was a prince.

As for Daniel- I can understand, given the minimal info I have about you (because I'm still not sure who you are)- why your husband would be concerned. My husband knows "Daniel" and knows of the love affair between us.
He even lets me watch Casino Royale alone from time to time so I can gush over Daniel in private.

I went on a week long vacation with that particular blogger last summer to Vero beach and we had the best time EVER! Of course, Daniel, and the "blogger" are not the same person.

If someone want to profess their undying love for me- by all means, let them do so in such a public forum as this. Let it be seen by all the world! Let my husband log on and get the laugh of his life...mercy knows he needs it!

Heaven forbid I get a passionate private email with such pose. Then I really would have problem...but not one the "delete" key couldn't fix.

Understand my friend, or whoever you are, that "intentions" and "actions" are more important than "appearances"- ALWAYS.

Integrity and responsibiltiy have far greater value than the shimmery gauze of a flawless image.

And for the record, my husband is actually a Saint.

Mayden has a very understanding Man for a Husband and he has loved her for many, many years! Unfortunately for her, he is not great at showing it! But Bace knows his Mayden, just as she knows him.

Oh, and Daniel would be most welcome to come to our house anytime...but Daniel might want to taste the wine carefully ;) because the wine might not be any good...what did you think I was thinking?

Wow - such a response. I did not intend to bring so much anger. In the present relationship I am in, my man would never allow such relationships with such comments. He would tell me that it is not necessary for me to have such relationships expecially with people that I have never met.

I have only recently discovered your blog - although I have been very moved by your words - I have been more moved or amazed by your following and fans. The intimacy in which the refer to you is amazing.

You certainly have a strong effect on people. You are very passionate. You are probably that way about your man, your kids, and everything around you. That is wonderfully precious.

Reekinrunkle-
I hope you don't think I was angry- I wasn't...and I hope it did not come across that way. I was being a little cheeky- but mostly in fun.
What I'm learning is that life is too short not to embrace the people who love you...and the ones who give you grief should be avoided if possible.
I love my blog friends- I really do. They've been as dear to me (or more so) than some members of my own family.
Happy Valentines Day to you- hope it is a special one for you and yours :)
